projects update

Hello there!

I haven’t updated much lately, I know. I could give a million reasons (give or take) but they would all sound as excuses… The main reason is that I haven’t had much time… but also I haven’t been much in the mood.

Since I started in my new role (yay!) I’ve been so busy at work, than the last thing I want to do at home is think. Think about what to write, or think about doing stuff. Basically, I’ve been watching series these past days (I know, I know, I should have been writing instead).

However, I have taken up on a couple of hobbies… Last Thursday I had my first sewing class, and we did a cushion cover!

it looks great on my red sofa, don't you think?

I think it’s quite pretty! I was very pleased with the result, as I was expecting something horrible and crooked to turn up, but it looks nice.

We also did some fabric buttons for the cushion. I was so slow sewing them though that I decided to finish it at home.

When I arrived at home from the course, I decided to practise a bit of crocheting, as I want to be able to do stuff in the future. So far I’m just trying single crocheting, and it’s starting to feel OK, so I will soon try double one. After that, it will be just a matter of time until I start making stuffed toys and scarves and gloves!

Finally, I just remembered I never posted a photo of the calendar I did.

This is a calendar I saw on etsy.com and I almost bought it (silly me!) but a friend said I could probably do it, and it felt like a challenge… It doesn’t look exactly the same, but I borrowed the idea from there.

I had to start the calendar in February, as it took me so long to finish it!

I have it in the kitchen, and it looks really nice and clean.

As you can see, I’ve been busy lately.

I have received 2 chests of drawers I bought online at IKEA and my plan is to customize them, in the most possibly mismatched way! I want to paint one of the drawers with chalk paint, so I can write and draw on it. Another drawer will be covered in fabric, I want it to be a bit… puffed (I’m not sure that’s the right word, actually!) and another one will be covered with a map, most likely. I also want to cover another one with those botanical drawings, and there will be 2 other drawers left, so I need to think what to do with those. Then, I will get knobs and pulls from everywhere (metal, plastic, glass…) and again, mismatch them. I think it can look pretty cool, but I’m not sure if I will be able to pull it off. We’ll see. For the moment, I still need to build the chests!!

I’m really tired lately (this part relates to the “not being in the mood” reason I mentioned above) and I don’t feel like writing or anything like that. I’m also not feeling great: I feel like I’m coming down with a cold, but never actually falling ill. I’ve got pain everywhere as well, my tummy hurts lately, my neck hurts from the computer… And again, I’m so tired.

Anyway, here I am again, so no more complaining! *big smile*

On a completely different note, my parents are coming to visit me for my birthday (end of March) so I’m happy about it, especially as they will see my house! I hope the flat looks better by then (not only because lately it’s a mess, but also because I want to finish some projects I have on my mind!)

Said all that, I think it’s time for me to go to sleep! Please, do let me know what you think of the work I’ve shown you, I would love to hear your opinions!
