Playing with ink!

Hello everyone! I guess this post can be included in the Handmade Life category (yay!!), and it’s a good thing, since it’s been a long time since I last posted about that sort of topic… so, let me place the pretty title below, and let’s begin! On Monday, I went to a screen printing workshop at The Book Club. I had never done screen printing before, but it’s something I’ve wanted to try for a while now. To play with inks and fabric, and create something unique? Totally my thing! At first, I was going with a friend, but I finally went there on my own, which is something I tend to do quite often lately, just try stuff by myself and, you know, jump in there and see what happens. I arrived early, and it was quite intimidating. I had never been in that place before, and there were people sitting around in groups, drinking and chatting, and then me. What do you do when you’re on your own, in a bar you have …

Update on progress

Wow… This is taking me forever!! As you know, I’m working on the design of my blog, and some of the changes you can already see. However, there are other changes that I still need to finish! Here’s a small sneak peek of what’s to come, so you see the amount of effort needed… You have already seen the logo/header of the blog (woohoo!) And maybe you have had a quick look at the Sneak Peek section, which is now displaying images in a more beautiful way (I think, anyway, what do you think?) rather than in the previous gallery… I think this look works quite well, doesn’t it? But hey, there are more new features coming soon… So, what will be new, hopefully very soon? There will be a new menu appearing on the top right corner! You can’t contain your excitement… I know right? All the pages in there are almost done, so I’m hoping to publish it all in the next days… Although knowing me, I might still make a few more …

last projects done

It’s been a while since my last post, apologies for that. As usual, I’ve been busy, first with the ski trip, then my parents came to visit, so I’ve been off and doing stuff. Good news is I have quite a few things to talk about here now! For starters, I can now disclose the toy I was working on, as it’s been given to the person already and he liked it! I did a Cthulhu for my brother, following the pattern here. I made some small changes, like the eyes – they look more manga in my version! Also, as I’m not that good crocheting yet, I’m sure I made some mistakes as well. However, I have to say that pattern is great and I’m really happy I found it! Thanks for sharing it! My brother really liked the toy, and he even posted a picture on his twitter! After, I decided to finish the Sackboy I was doing for my mum, following this pattern. Again, it was a success! Thanks Nerdigurumi for sharing …

it’s always about the money

I still haven’t published all the photos from my trip to Argentina, but I have a problem… I don’t have any good photo editor! I’m desperately trying to find a cheap (free?) copy of Adobe, but the prices are astronomically high! Seriously, how people can afford those figures? I’m really tempted to start a donation pot so that people can help me get the software I so much miss… Yes, I know, I shouldn’t be using this software in the photos, but it really is needed if I want a normal-looking image to look stunning. I need to work on the curves and colours, to straighten the horizon (my long life nemesis, as I never get it straight!), to bring out the contrast… I feel so lost without these programs… Why did I have to uninstall them? Now I cannot install that copy back. It’s OK. I’ll find some deal that will work well for me, or I will have to buy the package at that price… and die a little inside…   marz
