Life without a GPS

Tonight, I was having a conversation with my friend Sam about a book he recommended on creativity (The War Of Art, Steven Pressfield). I said that while the book was overall OK, it didn’t tell me anything new. Also, that I wasn’t too happy about the theological turn it took at some point, but that’s another story. The thing is, the conversation developed into a deeper one about life and our paths and all that, so I told him I needed to put that conversation on hold (yup, I’m that kind of nerd) so I could write this down. Sam, feel free to reply to all this either on Whatsapp, or even in your own blog, if you want! I believe we, humans, are evolving beings. We are definitely not static, and by interaction with others we change. Others, in the sense of other human beings, and the world, but also ourselves. Our own cells die and regenerate, we change skin cells everyday, our hair grows and our tastes change over time. That’s just part …

Making a dream catcher

I recently made a dream catcher for a friend’s son. Initially, I said I would make it for Christmas, but I’m a professional procrastinator, so in the end she had to remind me and I finally made it for this birthday. He’s a boy, and I needed to try to find some design that wouldn’t be way too delicate or girly, especially since I make them with crochet… In the end, I opted for bold bright colours, blue and red, and different charms hanging from it that would be more in line with a boy’s preferences. To be honest, I really love this dream catcher myself! One of my favourite charms in this dream catcher is the dice. It looks so cool! The small bee in the middle of the net looks really nice as well. It took me ages to wrap all the ring with the red yarn and I ended up with blisters on my fingers, but the result is a tight and neat outer ring. Every dreamcatcher I’ve done so far has …

Somewhere along the line

I was just thinking… What has happened to us? Not all of us, just some… When we are kids, we are full of dreams… We want to be astronauts, or doctors, or vets, or firemen… We want to be rock stars! We are so full of projects and aspirations. We draw these amazing pieces of art, we sing and feel no shame. We run like the wind (or we like to think so), we are stronger than our dads, and we’re funny. Hey, everyone laughs at our jokes and great ideas.

countdown

Wow, this is an interesting feeling… I’m flying to Argentina in a couple of days, and man, I’m nervous. I have this butterflies in my stomach, especially today, as I’m starting to pack my suitcase (just to have a view on what I need and how much it weights). I have this trip planned since March, but I’ve been waiting all my life to go to this country. I remember reading Mafalda when I was a kid and thinking how much I wanted to go to this strange place where they spoke a weird Spanish. As I grew up, I discovered Maytena, and kept on learning about the way they thought (from the point of view of this woman, of course). I’ve always watched any Argentine film that fell on my hands and looked at the streets of Buenos Aires showing on the screen with avid eyes. I love tango music. I don’t normally eat sweets, but oh, I love dulce de leche and the alfajor. With time, one Argentine girl became one of my …
