Beard Exhibition

Long week

Last week was an intense and interesting one. For one, I learnt a lot about myself, and confirmed as well that I know myself pretty accurately. On Wednesday, someone was recording people at work, for an induction video for new starters. I know I have plenty of issues with being in front of a camera, whether it’s for a photo or for a video, but I volunteered nevertheless because, do one thing that scares you everyday and all that. I recorded the first video, and I hated it. I thought I didn’t look too bad, and my voice wasn’t too terrible, but I could see I was way too nervous and uncomfortable, so I asked to film it again. We went somewhere where there were no people around, and I recorded a new video. I was still a bit uncomfortable, but it felt much more natural. At the end of the day, I volunteered to be filmed in the gym, because they also needed some footage for a wellbeing video. That day, I decided to …

Over 44600 steps in three days

Remind me to not do a weekend like this one ever again… At least not if I want to rest and be able to feel my legs. This weekend has been mental. I have the feeling Friday was years ago, not just a couple of days earlier. My shifts at the charity house were very quiet, which I’m thankful for. No fires, no burglaries, and no hospital emergencies of any kind. On Friday, I did my workout (I brought my dumbbells to the house, which sounds a bit stupid, but hey, I needed them), and it was brutal. It was, simply put, hardcore. There was one circuit, to be done four times (if I remember well) and it included burpees, and wall sits, and plank rows, and many other painful exercises… for 45 minutes. On Saturday morning, I left the house at 10.30am or so, and went to have a walk. I was meeting Sean for lunch at 1pm, so I had plenty of time. I walked by the river to London Bridge, and then …

Strasbourg – Photography

I finally got around to work on the photos from my trip to Strasbourg, which now feels like a life away. If you remember, I went there for a reunion. At university, here in the UK, it was always four of us together all the time, The Pack, Judit, Sabine (Aissa), Jean Marie and me. We hadn’t seen each other for a long time (in my case, ten years!) and we decided to meet there, since none of us girls knew Strasbourg and he lives there. Of course, you know I see Aissa pretty much every few months, but that’s not the point. The Pack was back together, for one weekend! I’m not going to go into detail about the trip, I will just say that it was a lot of fun. I was glad to see we hadn’t changed that much, and we could still have a great time together. Strasbourg is amazing. The city has a great history, which makes the architecture strikingly beautiful. During its history, it has passed from German and …

Beware, the hipsters are coming!

I hate hangovers. You have a lot of fun when you’re out and about with your friends, drinking, and the next morning, it’s like a revenge on you for having too much fun. I had made plans with my friend Su a while back to meet on Saturday, and when the day arrived, we decided to go to this new trendy market in Lewisham, just by the shopping centre. The place was a bit hidden, and it looks nothing like a market, and more like an abandoned warehouse. At the entrance, there were a few security guys making sure nobody was there to cause trouble. There even was a Jared Leto lookalike! You can see him towards the right on the pic above (just by the Superstyle Hair Studio column), long hair and sunglasses… That’s totally him! Ha-ha Inside, the place looked like Shoreditch had just came to Lewisham for a visit! You may or may not know this, but I love Shoreditch. I know it’s now trendy to hate it and to be so …
