Pre-weekend

Haven’t you heard? It’s Bank Holiday weekend! Get ready for three days of rest. Just make sure you bring your sunglasses, and your umbrella, just in case… Because it always rains on Bank Holiday weekend. I haven’t checked the weather forecast yet, but that’s usually the case in London. This week has been a bit tough. I had a client event which has been harder than I expected, mostly because we finished late, and because it was in two floors of a pub, which meant I spent most of my evening running up and down the stairs. By the end of the night, I was very tired (I left at 11pm, but it was still packed!) and I was so focused on not losing work’s camera, that I actually forgot my cardigan. Fail! I only noticed the following morning, when I wanted to wear it and I couldn’t find it. Luckily, a colleague had found it and brought it to me in the morning, as lost property, not knowing it was actually mine! Score! I …

Feeling the need to regroup

As you know, I’m briefly back to normal before going away again, and I wanted to do a quick review of what’s going on at the moment (aside from my travels). I know I keep saying how busy I am, and how many things I’m up to all the time and all that, and I’m aware it sounds like a bit of self-back-patting. That’s not at all what I’m trying to do here… It’s more a sort of to-do list for myself, or to keep track of what I’m up to (and if anything of what I do inspires you to do something similar, well, that’s a win-win and all that). Sunday was spent mostly in bed, first sleeping, then watching series. I was exhausted from my trip, and my body pretty much forced me into passing out for most of the day. When someone says think of your happy place, I automatically think of my bed. Not the idea of it, but the actual physical place. It’s way too comfy at any time, my …

Drop it like a squat!

The week is almost over, at least for me, since I’m off on Friday, and as usual, I’m busy (I book the day off because I needed it, and I’m actually considering working for a few hours, type of busy). The week started with rushing to catch the happy train. I almost missed it, but managed to reach my carriage just as the doors were opening (to be fair, I could have always jumped in a different carriage anyway). As it’s becoming customary, I was busy at work. Yesterday was chaotic. I spent my morning travelling across London to go to the hospital for an appointment (spoiler, I’m still not done and have to go two more times at least), and then hurrying back to the office, before going out again for a meeting (which was a bit of a waste of time, but that’s a different story). Today has been very busy at work (can you start to see a pattern here?), as we’re trying to finalise two events, and time is pressing. I …

Customary new year post

2014 was a year of many starts, and many things left half done. I met a lot of new friends, and I also let go of many people, some losses being a bit more painful than others. All in all, it was quite a complete year, and I don’t regret it at all, or at least, not entirely, because even the mistakes I might have made, are my own and have helped me grown. The blog has seen some changes, the most notable, its layout. I’m also in the process of changing the logo and brand a bit, but that’s still not happening straight away. The schedule has gone all over the place, from posting three times a week, to more, to less, to forgetting I had a blog completely. Life happens. Shall we look at some stats? In 2014, [shutter and ink.] had a total of 3,307 views, that’s just over 60 views per week! I think this number is the main reason this blog is still here, because you’re out there reading it, …
