untitled (again)

Hello all! I hope you are well and enjoying the week (hang in there, it’s almost the weekend!). My week is OK, it could be much, much better, but there isn’t much I can do about it at the moment. I can’t wait for the weekend to come… To be honest, I could do with May already, but that’s another story! Right, I know what you are thinking: where is the tutorial? I know, I know… It’s taking me forever to write it! I’m not procrastinating (much), but I really want it to be awesome, regardless of the quality of the photographs! I want to get my information right, and check references and do a good old research on what I want to write about, so that you have all the facts and examples, and can go out with your cameras, armed with great references to help you be the next photographer of the year. OK, I might be getting a bit carried away, but hey, let’s aim high! I know it’s just a handful …

photos, photos, photos!!

Yesterday it was a nice day! We went to take some photos for the tutorial (coming soon) and it was fun, as well as productive. As usual, the photos are OK and not awesome, but that’s more due to me being shy with the camera than anything else… After walking around for a bit in Camden, taking pictures, we then went to have some drinks at The World’s End, a really, really, big pub just off the station. Then, we met some other friends for some Moroccan tea and shisha (which I refused to smoke, as being an ex-smoker, I don’t want to come close to anything similar, in case I fall into 20 a day once again!). We had some nice food, and a great chat, before each heading off to different places. I’m still working on the tutorial and the photos (making them look pretty, I guess), which I think will take me some days. In the meantime, I couldn’t wait to show you an image I’ve been working on, so you can see …

hours left!

I am very excited about the photo shoot of tomorrow (well, today already). I have been preparing the day, thinking about the photos I want to take and the ideas I want to talk about in the tutorial. Hopefully it won’t be a terrible day, as so far it seems it’s going to rain (Bank Holiday weekend, and it’s raining? Really? That never happens, right?) but I might still be lucky, as it seems it won’t rain between 1pm and 4pm! I have 2 friends who have agreed to be my models, and another friend who volunteered as my assistant, so it’s going to be fun, fun! It’s so exciting! Also I’m a bit nervous, as it’s the first time I’m going to take pictures of models on my own… So far, in all the photo shoots I’ve been to (2) there were more photographers. I think I’m expecting way too much of myself, and I’m a bit scared of self-disappointment (yes, I wouldn’t like disappointing others, but I’m my own worst critic!), so that’s …

untitled

This one is a very short post to show you guys something cool. You know I’m into photography, and even though I’m not a great photographer, I’m always taking pictures (not as many as I would like to, though!) I recently downloaded Instagram for my Sony Ericsson (oh, yeah!) but unfortunately, my stream (right, I’m not sure if that’s how it’s called, I’m guessing I’m just borrowing that name from Flickr) looks quite empty for the moment. Anyway, that’s not the point. The point is that as a profile picture, I posted a photo I took some weeks ago with my phone, with an app that allows you give your photos some vintage look. I published the image as my profile, both on Facebook and Instagram, and my friend Jeff saw it and he liked it. Jeff owns a company called inksquire (sorry Jeff, I’m not sure if that goes with a capital i or not), and he does art on images. He asked if he could work on the photo, so I sent it to …
