Some days the bear eats you…

Yesterday I was thinking about writing today’s post in advance. I wanted to talk about the imminent flat move, but I didn’t know what I should really say. There were two possible outcomes to happen today, either it was all good and confirmed, or it wasn’t. For some reason, I considered writing two versions, like they do in PR and presidential campaigns, just in case, and the hit publish on whichever one happened. It was a bit silly, to be honest, because it was 99% confirmed and today the guy was going to get rid of his estate agents as a last step. Last night, Su texted me to tell me the guy had received a better offer for one year, and I’m guessing at the full original rent price, and so he thought he should go with that. Now, I don’t blame him, of course he should go with that offer instead, but it sucks. I had already made up my mind to move, and I had let myself get a bit excited, even …

The September issue

I have the feeling that August was a really busy month, even if when I try to think hard about what I’ve been doing, I can’t really come up with anything… Is that age? During August, as you know, I decided I wanted every week to be a short one, so I took every Monday off, and sometimes even the Tuesday! It was good, it felt great… but it also meant that I have had troubles figuring out which day of the week it was during the whole month! I sold some books, and gave away a bunch. I finished my Whole30 and did my reintroduction. I’ve helped Ronald McDonald House a few times as well. If you remember, I’ve also gone to the theatre a few times, as well as a steam train day trip (I know, I still have to share the photos). I have also been to the hospital a bunch of times, for check-ups. In the last month I’ve had ultrasound scanners, x-rays and MRI scanners done, for different issues. I’m …

La Sylphide

As you know, I went to see La Sylphide at the English National Opera on Wednesday. It was my second ballet ever, and I loved it. Not too long ago, I wrote about my desire to do more cultural stuff, especially theatre visits and similar, and boy, have I taken it on board. I have booked a bunch of performances that I want to see. Life is too short, people! Su and I left the office at around 6pm and walked towards ENO, to avoid any problems because of the imminent Tube strike. We walked fast because we wanted to squeeze in a dinner before the show started at 7.30pm. While power-walking, we were trying to figure out where I could eat (hello, Whole37!). Finally, we decided to eat in Bella Italia, near the venue, because she could have pasta and I could have a simple salad with no weird ingredients. I had to ask the waitress about the dressing, but it was just olive oil and lemon, so it was all safe. We arrived …

Marbles

I’m not really sure if I’m getting old or if I’m simply losing my mind at a slow by steady pace. Although it is probably the latter, I think I’m going to tell you so you can judge for yourself. A few days ago, I was having dinner with my brother. Having set the table, and with the food already served, I went to the kitchen to grab a last-minute item, when my brother asked me to also bring ketchup. I opened the fridge, grabbed the ketchup, and saw some beers there he had bought earlier that same week. I asked him if I could have one of his beers and as I was finishing the question, I said out loud: Ah, no, I already have wine, true! and turned to see my brother looking at my with an expression that could only mean I’m a bit crazy (or that I have a problem with alcohol). On the table, there were the two glasses of wine we had just served. On that same evening, I …
