Finally March!

Happy Monday and good morning! A new week again, and the first one of March, which makes me very happy indeed. The weather has improved quite a bit these days in London, with the sun shining and the temperatures rising little by little. I’ve had trouble finding my sunglasses (but I found them yesterday), so I’ve walked around pretty much blinded for the past few days. No more! Last week was hectic. My workouts were on paused because the week before I woke up with pain on my neck, and for a couple of days I wasn’t able to turn my head to any side. Finally, I’m feeling my whole range of movements back and I feel like I can hit the gym again (which I’ll be doing tonight). I wish I could have a whole full month with no injuries or pains of any sort, because this is already getting old! I’ve been very busy at work, getting ready for a trade show. We left the office at 2pm on Tuesday and went to …

Over 44600 steps in three days

Remind me to not do a weekend like this one ever again… At least not if I want to rest and be able to feel my legs. This weekend has been mental. I have the feeling Friday was years ago, not just a couple of days earlier. My shifts at the charity house were very quiet, which I’m thankful for. No fires, no burglaries, and no hospital emergencies of any kind. On Friday, I did my workout (I brought my dumbbells to the house, which sounds a bit stupid, but hey, I needed them), and it was brutal. It was, simply put, hardcore. There was one circuit, to be done four times (if I remember well) and it included burpees, and wall sits, and plank rows, and many other painful exercises… for 45 minutes. On Saturday morning, I left the house at 10.30am or so, and went to have a walk. I was meeting Sean for lunch at 1pm, so I had plenty of time. I walked by the river to London Bridge, and then …

Another week passes by

The weekend is almost here again… It’s unbelievable how fast this week has gone, and how busy I’ve been. The most interesting thing happening at the moment is a desk move we’re having in our offices this weekend. I know it sounds silly to be excited about sitting somewhere else, but it’s a break from the usual office-related monotony. I’m quite happy with the change because I will be leaving one of the most transited areas, and will be going back to where I used to sit a few months ago. At the moment, I sit by a door and by the printer. This results in constant traffic of people behind me, hitting my chair when walking past, calling my name (if we’re friends, and yes, randomly, without wanting anything, just say my name and keep walking…), rapping the desk next to me with their knuckles… Something quite annoying is that it seems to be a point where people part ways, so I get all the last minute conversations when people are leaving meetings, you …

Smugness galore

I feel quite accomplished today, even if I am extremely tired. It feels like I’ve been doing a lot of things in the past few days, socially and at work (even if I don’t have much to show for it for the latter – research stage, nothing finished yet!) On Friday, we went out to one of my favourite bars in London, The Maple Leaf. It’s really nothing to write home about, but I love it. Outside, it looks like your regular traditional English pub, only with Canadian flags. When you step in, it still is like a traditional sports pub, only it has been decorated with Canadian-related stuff, from hockey sticks to flags. Yes, one of my favourite bars is a sports bar! There’s a picture of a moose and they have what I believe to be a real taxidermied bear, named Charlotte, by the way. Behind the bar, there’s a moose head hanging from the wall which is permanently covered in caps. On the TVs there’s always some sort of sports being played, …
