The easiest things sometimes are the most difficult

Some days everything turns out right, and other days it feels like everything is out to get you. I’m not sure what sort of day it was today. Last night, when I went to the flat at the charity house for the night, I noticed the CCTV monitor was off. I checked, and there was a light, so power was getting in, but the screen was black. I tried all buttons and cables I could find, but I didn’t manage to make it work. As I sat reading on the sofa, I kept glancing at it and feeling a sort of discomfort. Usually, I don’t have access to CCTV footage in my life, and I only see it when I’m volunteering (and then, only in the evening). If the burglar alarm went off, I could quickly look at the monitor and see if there was an actual break in, or if maybe one of the parents forgot they cannot go to the garden in the middle of the night. Not having the CCTV available made …

Homemade weekend

Not being able to run about is tedious. Sure, I can walk, but I would rather be hopping here and there. Since I have to rest the knee as much as possible, and I’m in a bad mood about it, I decided to be an indoors cat this weekend, and take it as easy as possible. Good thing about being indoors is that you realise how much you miss the outdoors, I guess, but also, you catch up on projects. To be completely fair with all of you, I haven’t caught up on any of the projects I mentioned on this post, unfortunately. However, I have done a few other things. I’ve finally fixed my brother’s rucksack. It’s not perfect, I’m afraid, and I didn’t manage to insert the top handle again without having a crisis with my sewing machine, but it’s usable again. I wouldn’t put too much weight in it though… just in case. I’ve also done project #1 from Love at First Stitch, the book from Tilly, at Tilly and the Buttons. …

Unfinished projects update: smaller hoodie

Do you know how I keep saying I’m a first class procrastinator? Well, I’ve never said those exact words, but you’ve probably heard me saying that I’m lazy as hell. I am. One of the projects I have half done is resizing (is that a word?) a hoodie I got for volunteering in the London to Brighton Cycle Ride. I went to Clapham, very early morning, and stood for a few hours, handing out brochures with a route map, ensuring cyclists had their bibs on, and making sure they had a great start. It was fun. During the whole time I had to wear a hoodie, but they didn’t have many left by the time I got there, so I ended up having to wear an extra large, or maybe it was double extra large, or something like that… can’t remember, judge for yourselves! As proof of how lazy I am, if you look at that mirror, that was my previous flat, and I moved almost a year ago. Yes, that’s how long it takes …

Sewing Kit DIY

Hi there! I’m ready to write a new post for the blog, oh yeah! Exactly a week after my last post. If you’ve been wondering what was taking me so long, flu has. It sort of melted my brain into a mix of… stuffy, disgusting bits. Anyway, here I am again, and I have a post for all of you. I’ve been working on this one for a while, if not on the text, at least on the images. They were all taken with my phone (S4) and then perfected (ha!) in Photoshop, mainly because I tend to get creative at night, so the lighting in all my quick phone pictures is usually bad. That’s how I seem to roll… This is something I saw on Pinterest. I think the first time I saw stuff like this was probably on one of the million photos and posts about doing things with Mason jars. For some reason, it seems I never pinned any of those, but pinned this one instead, which let’s be honest, it’s much …
